Journey Planner - plan a cycle journey to
I work on Broken Wharf, in an area full of multi-storey offices i.e. full of commuters. Cycling in to work is OK. When it comes to cycling home though it's actually impossible to use my bike for the first part of the journey. If travelling east, as I generally do these days, I have to use the pavement as far as Southwark Bridge as it's impossible to cross the dual carriageway. If travelling West, it's actually a bit worse in that my options are either to use the riverside path (illegal) then a long flight of steps up onto Queen Victoria Street, or to cycle through a scarcely-lit two-lane road tunnel, along with fast-moving trucks, vans, motorbikes and cars. It's terrifying, but is the only vaguely-sensible route if travelling towards Westminster.
