Tactile paving is just a pointless nuisance unless it is installed correctly. Worse, it will confuse the people that it is supposed to help.

This is an example of how people put tactiles down without bothering to find out how it is supposed to be done.

This is a footpath, clearly intended for walking but has tactiles running parallel to the direction of travel . That says very clearly to a visually impaired person that it is for cycling

Nearby is a segregated path, with the left hand side for walking and the right hand side for cycling (picture #40585 )

Again the tactiles on the right hand side are laid parallel to the direction of travel, correctly identifying it as for cycle use. But the tactiles on the left hand side are also laid parallel to the direction of travel - again saying that it is for cycling.

Where is the visually impaired pedestrian supposed to walk ? He or she will have no clue.

Dreadful. It is like leading drivers onto a roundabout and then marking all the exits as "no exit". It wouldn't be tolerated.
